Dr Michael Reid

Joined the Australian Army in 1995 as a medic and completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Science) (1 st Class Honours) at the Queensland University of Technology. Whilst serving in the Australian Army he deployed on Peace Keeping missions in Bougainville, Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste.

Michael transferred to the Royal Australian Navy in 2003 and obtained his Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sydney in 2006. He served in Afghanistan campaign supporting anti-terrorism and anti-piracy roles. Michael was subsequently posted to the Submarine Underwater Medicine Unit where in obtained his Post Graduate Diploma in Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine (2015) and sub-specialised in Submarine Rescue, Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine.

Upon retiring from the military, Michael qualified as an Anaesthetist in 2019.

Michael enjoys diving and underwater photography.
